Lake Oswego Gateway Sculpture

This sculpture was commissioned after a competitive process to be a gateway icon in a pocket park bordering the intersection of two main approaches at the northern edge of the City of Lake Oswego, Oregon.  It is designed to address both pedestrian and vehicular traffic along sight lines from both the north and south.  Lake Oswego’s citizens see their city as beautiful, friendly, peaceful, clean, and green, among other qualities. The city is known for its verdant trees and flowers. Therefore, an abstractly botanical theme has was developed for the sculpture, and abstract botanical metaphors and their associated positive qualities can be seen in the design.
