Lake Oswego Gateway Sculpture

Flourish”

This sculpture was commissioned after a competitive process to be a gateway icon in a pocket park bordering the intersection of two main approaches at the northern edge of Lake Oswego, Oregon. It is designed to address pedestrian as well as vehicular traffic along sight lines from both the north and south. Lake Oswego’s citizens see their city as beautiful, friendly, peaceful, clean, and green, among other qualities, and the city is known for its verdant trees and flowers. Therefore, an abstractly botanical theme was developed for the sculpture, with associated positive metaphors. Locals frequently refer to Lake Oswego as “L.O.”, hence the highlighting of the second and third letters in the title, “Flourish”.  Landscape improvements are expected in Spring of 2022.
